Role
Sorian Aerospace is building autonomous supersonic aircraft for advanced training and test. Sandman is an unmanned supersonic trainer. Unforgiven is a fighter-class advanced trainer designed for piloted and unmanned operation. Both aircraft share a common foundation across autonomy, avionics, flight controls, and aircraft systems.
As a Propulsion Engineer, you’ll work across analysis, integration, test, and flight hardware. You’ll help bring propulsion, fuel, electrical, controls, thermal, and instrumentation systems together at the aircraft level.
This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can move from data and first-principles analysis to test hardware and real-time troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Support propulsion-system integration at the aircraft and test-stand level
- Design and validate fuel, electrical, controls, thermal, and instrumentation interfaces
- Plan and run tests covering operability, thermal behavior, vibration, and performance
- Analyze engine health and test data and support root-cause investigations
- Develop propulsion instrumentation, test hardware, and data-acquisition methods
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, and software interactions
- Work with structures, avionics, flight controls, systems, and manufacturing
Requirements
- 3–7 years of hands-on propulsion experience - preferably on jet or turbine engines
- Experience integrating engines into airframes or test stands
- Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, turbomachinery, and powerplant subsystems
- Familiarity with turbine-engine controls, startup sequences, and operability
- Able to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or software issues in real time
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required

- Support safe, reliable propulsion operation across ground and flight testing
- Help build a disciplined test-and-iterate loop for propulsion improvements
Availability
Full-time, based in Long Beach, CA
Some evenings and weekends may be required during build, test, or flight ops
Compensation Range
$120,000–$180,000 base salary
