Role
Sorian Aerospace is building a high-performance fighter-class jet for adversary air (Red Air) missions and advanced pilot training. The goal: deliver the maneuverability, integrated electronic warfare, BVR targeting, autonomous flight, CCA interoperability, and flight experience of front-line fighters — at a fraction of the cost. As a Manufacturing & Machining Engineer, your job is to build real aircraft parts — fast, precisely, and repeatably. You’ll run CNC machines, fabricate custom tooling and fixtures, and turn raw material into flight-ready components. You’ll work closely with engineering, test, and integration teams to bridge the gap between CAD and working hardware. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in the shop and takes pride in building clean, functional, aerospace-grade systems.Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce flight-critical components
- Fabricate tooling, fixtures, and custom assemblies using both manual and automated techniques
- Interpret complex drawings, 3D models, and GD&T to machine parts to spec
- Assemble substructures and mechanical systems from machined, composite, and COTS parts
- Work with engineers to improve designs for manufacturability and ease of assembly
- Maintain high standards of fit, finish, and repeatability under aggressive timelines
- Support integration and test efforts by rapidly building or reworking parts as needed
Requirements
- 3–8 years of hands-on experience in aerospace machining, prototyping, or fabrication
- Proficiency with CNC programming (CAM), manual machining, and machine setup
- Strong understanding of precision tolerancing, GD&T, and inspection tools
- Experience working with aluminum, titanium, stainless, and composite layups
- Comfortable reading drawings and building parts directly from 3D models
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
Results
- Fabricate and deliver parts that integrate cleanly and fly on schedule
- Support rapid iteration with quick-turn machining and rework capabilities
- Build a culture of precision, speed, and accountability in the shop
