Role
Sorian Aerospace is building autonomous supersonic aircraft for advanced training and test. Sandman is an unmanned supersonic trainer. Unforgiven is a fighter-class advanced trainer designed for piloted and unmanned operation. Both aircraft share a common foundation across autonomy, avionics, flight controls, and aircraft systems.
As Lead Structures Engineer, you’ll own airframe structures across two distinct supersonic aircraft classes. You’ll lead structural architecture, loads, stress, aeroelasticity, dynamics, durability, mass efficiency, manufacturability, and test while contributing directly to the engineering work.
Responsibilities
- Own primary and secondary structural architecture, requirements, and technical decisions
- Lead loads, stress, aeroelasticity, structural dynamics, durability, and test strategy
- Contribute directly to CAD, FEA, analysis review, and real-time problem solving
- Optimize structures for mass, performance, cost, manufacturability, and assembly
- Establish configuration discipline, margins, verification methods, and engineering standards
- Collaborate closely with aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, controls, systems, and manufacturing
- Build and guide a small team of high-agency engineers who think clearly and execute quickly
Requirements
- 5–8 years of end-to-end experience in aerospace structural design and hardware delivery
- Proficiency with CAD (CATIA, NX, or similar) and FEA tools (NASTRAN, HyperMesh)
- Strong knowledge of aerospace materials, composites, and stress analysis methods
- Proven ability to execute under aggressive timelines in development environments
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required

Availability
Full-time, based in Long Beach, CA
Some evenings and weekends may be required during development milestones
Compensation Range
$250,000–$300,000 base salary
