Role

Sorian Aerospace is building a high-performance fighter-class jet for adversary air (Red Air) missions and advanced pilot training. The goal: deliver the maneuverability, integrated electronic warfare, BVR targeting, autonomous flight, CCA interoperability, and flight experience of front-line fighters — at a fraction of the cost. As Lead Structures Engineer, you’ll own the airframe design from concept through flight. You’ll define the outer mold line, internal structure, load paths, and material systems — and see your work go from design to air in record time. This is a hands-on role with real ownership, not a design-by-committee job. You’ll lay the structural foundation for an aircraft built to fly and fight.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the airframe design from concept to flight, including OML definition, load-bearing structures, and substructure layout
  • Contribute directly to CAD modeling, FEA, and real-time problem solving
  • Optimize structural components for performance, cost, and manufacturability
  • Select materials and manufacturing methods to meet performance and production goals
  • Ensure designs meet safety, structural, and integration requirements
  • Collaborate closely with propulsion, avionics, and systems engineering teams for seamless integration
  • Build and guide a small team of high-agency engineers who think clearly and execute quickly

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of end-to-end experience in aerospace structural design and hardware delivery
  • Proficiency with CAD (CATIA, NX, or similar) and FEA tools (NASTRAN, HyperMesh)
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace materials, composites, and stress analysis methods
  • Proven ability to execute under aggressive timelines in development environments
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required

Results

  • Deliver a complete structural system ready for integration and flight
  • Establish a design and iteration pipeline that accelerates development
  • Create a culture of precision, speed, and accountability within the structures team

Availability

Full-time, based in Long Beach, CA
Some evenings and weekends may be required during development milestones

Compensation Range

$250,000–$300,000 base salary
  • generous equity
  • complete healthcare benefits for you and your dependents
