Role
Sorian Aerospace is building autonomous supersonic aircraft for advanced training and test. Sandman is an unmanned supersonic trainer. Unforgiven is a fighter-class advanced trainer designed for piloted and unmanned operation. Both aircraft share a common foundation across autonomy, avionics, flight controls, and aircraft systems.
As an Avionics Engineer, you’ll work hands-on with the avionics lead to design, assemble, integrate, and test aircraft electronics. Your work will support sensing, communications, navigation, situational awareness, autonomous operation, and manned-unmanned interoperability.
We're looking for high-agency builders who want to ship and iterate fast.
Responsibilities
- Design and test avionics hardware, embedded electronics, and aircraft interfaces
- Integrate sensing, communications, navigation, compute, and aircraft I/O
- Build and test wiring, instrumentation, test equipment, and supporting firmware
- Work closely with flight controls, autonomy, systems, and test engineers
- Create clean, testable hardware and firmware for demanding flight environments
- Support bench, hardware-in-the-loop, ground, and flight testing
Requirements
- 2–6 years of experience designing avionics systems or embedded hardware
- Proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, Eagle) and schematic capture
- Familiarity with flight computers, embedded firmware, and aircraft wiring standards
- Working knowledge of I/O protocols (CAN, ARINC, RS-422, Ethernet)
- Comfortable debugging both hardware and software at the bench or on the aircraft
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
Results
- Deliver reliable avionics hardware with clear interfaces and test evidence
- Support fast, disciplined iteration across both aircraft programs
- Help build a high-trust culture of engineering rigor and system-level thinking
Availability
Full-time, based in Long Beach, CA
Some evenings and weekends may be required during integration and test events
Compensation Range
$120,000–$180,000 base salary
- meaningful equity
- complete healthcare benefits for you and your dependents
