Role

Sorian Aerospace is building a high-performance fighter-class jet for adversary air (Red Air) missions and advanced pilot training. The goal: deliver the maneuverability, integrated electronic warfare, BVR targeting, autonomous flight, CCA interoperability, and flight experience of front-line fighters — at a fraction of the cost. As an Avionics Engineer, you’ll work hands-on with the avionics lead to design, build, and integrate the full flight electronics stack — including compute modules, sensors, displays, and wiring. You’ll be responsible for building the hardware and firmware that makes the aircraft fly, communicate, and adapt. We're looking for high-agency builders who want to ship and iterate fast.

Responsibilities

  • Design custom PCBs and avionics modules for onboard computing, sensors, and I/O
  • Develop and integrate flight computer logic, including power distribution, signal conditioning, and redundancy
  • Build and test wiring harnesses, sensor packages, and communication buses
  • Work closely with flight controls, autonomy, and systems teams to integrate full-stack avionics
  • Create clean, testable hardware and firmware that survives real-world flight environments
  • Support build, integration, and test cycles — including ground and flight test campaigns

Requirements

  • 2–6 years of experience designing avionics systems or embedded hardware
  • Proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad, Eagle) and schematic capture
  • Familiarity with flight computers, embedded firmware, and aircraft wiring standards
  • Working knowledge of I/O protocols (CAN, ARINC, RS-422, Ethernet)
  • Comfortable debugging both hardware and software at the bench or on the aircraft
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required

Results

  • Deliver avionics hardware that works from day one of flight test
  • Support fast iteration and upgrades as the platform evolves
  • Help build a high-trust culture of engineering rigor and system-level thinking

Availability

Full-time, based in Long Beach, CA
Some evenings and weekends may be required during integration and test events

Compensation Range

$120,000–$180,000 base salary
  • meaningful equity
  • complete healthcare benefits for you and your dependents
