Role

Sorian Aerospace is developing advanced aircraft designed to push performance boundaries. As Director of Test Flight, you will lead all flight test operations—developing programs, managing safety protocols, and delivering flight data that drives product evolution. You must be a licensed pilot with a strong technical foundation and flight test experience. This is a high-responsibility, in-person role reporting directly to the CEO.

Note: U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required due to regulatory constraints.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage all flight test operations for Sorian aircraft programs
Develop structured, phased test plans covering performance, handling, and safety validation
Work directly with test pilots and engineering teams to define objectives and evaluate results
Analyze flight data and provide actionable feedback to support design iteration
Ensure compliance with flight safety protocols and regulatory requirements
Conduct risk assessments and lead incident response planning for flight operations

Requirements

Active pilot’s license with significant flight time
Proven experience in flight test planning, execution, and data analysis
Familiarity with special use airspace (SUAs), including complex regions such as R-2508, Mojave Air and Space Port corridors, or equivalent military test ranges
Experience coordinating with airspace controlling authorities and range safety officers
Strong understanding of control systems, performance envelopes, and certification standards
Demonstrated ability to lead teams in high-stakes testing environments

Results

Deliver a repeatable, safe flight test process that accelerates aircraft validation
Generate clear, actionable data to support rapid iteration
Ensure safe expansion of the flight envelope without compromising program velocity

Availability

Full-time, based in Long Beach, CA
Weekend and evening availability required during test campaigns

Compensation Range

$200,000–$250,000 base salary
